Secondary Boarding Schools in Luapula Province have commended Mansa Municipal Council for timely payments of fees for pupils who are being sponsored under the Constituency Development Fund for Mansa Central and Bahati Constituencies.
This came to light when a delegation led by the Mansa Mayor, Mansa District Commissioner and Mansa Municipal Council Town Clerk conducted monitoring activities to check progress and performance of pupils in boarding secondary schools on Bursaries.
The Head Teacher at Lukwesa Secondary School in Mwense District, Mr. Bwalya Kapaya said the schools’ administration has not faced challenges with payments of fees for pupils currently under Bursaries from Mansa District.
He added that the timely payments have helped the school administration to run the school and cover for pupils whose fees are not paid on time.
And the Head Teacher at Kapale Secondary School in Mwansabombwe, Mr. Kenny Mulumbwa said Mansa Municipal Council is the only Council sending monies for pupils at the school on time and conducting checks to verify pupil presence in schools.
Meanwhile, the Mansa Municipal Council Town Clerk Ms. Josephine Mwanza assured the school administrations that the Local Authority understands that challenges that come with running large institution like schools.
“We will continue to send the monies on time as long as long as the schools send invoices quickly after requests are made by the Local Authority” she added.
The Mansa Central and Bahati Constituencies are sponsoring pupils at Musonda Girls, Lukwesa Secondary and Mambilima Mission Schools in Mwense District; Kapale Secondary and Mable Shaw Secondary Schools in Mwansabombwe District; Kawambwa Secondary, St Mary’s Secondary Schools in Kawambwa District, Lwela Secondary School in Milenge District; Lubwe Secondary School in Chifunabuli District; Samfya Secondary School in Samfya District and Mansa Secondary, St Clements Secondary, Mansa Trades and Mansa Continued Education in Mansa District.
