CDF FUNDED CLUBS AND COOPERATIVES IN FIMPULU WARD TO CONTRIBUTE FOOD MARKET

The Fimpulu Ward Councilor says that the 12 successful grants recipients in 2024 will positively contribute to the food market in the Ward by venturing into livestock and crops farming.

Cllr Zebron Kulelwa says over 50% of the clubs that have been funded with seed money will venture into poultry, while the remaining will undertake piggery and gardening businesses.

He adds that the businesses to be undertaken are all in response to the needs in the ward and when fully actualised will help residents in Fimpulu Ward to access food products more easily.

He further adds that residents in Fimpulu Ward travel long distances to the Mansa town to buy food products like chicken, beef and eggs.

Meanwhile, Tukachita Shani Multipurpose Cooperative Chairperson Mr. Goodson Musongo, says the grant received will be used to expand the poultry business which cooperative is already doing.

“We already started keeping chickens as a cooperative but after selling the chickens, the money was not enough for expansion, so we decided to apply through CDF for more money to help us expand our business” he said.

Mr. Musongo also encouraged other clubs and cooperatives who have applied but not yet received seed money to be patient and not give up.

The Mansa Municipal Council has distributed empowerment grant payments to 12 successful clubs and cooperatives in Fimpulu Ward at a value of K200,000.

So far, 26 clubs and cooperatives have been funded with seed money under the CDF since 2022.
