LUAPULA PROVINCE SEES SIGNIFICANT INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT FOLLOWING CDF AND PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVES

Luapula Province has witnessed remarkable progress in infrastructure development during the period 2022 to 31 October, 2024, following the successful completion of 351 Constituency Development Fund support and the presidential directives.

This came to light during the 2025 budget hearings for Local Authorities in Luapula and Central Provinces held in Mpika district.

Among the 351 completed projects, the education sector has seen the construction of 113 classroom blocks, with 50 rehabilitated and 63 newly built. Additionally, 22 staff houses have been constructed, comprising 10 rehabilitated and 12 new units.

In addition, a total of 50,312 desks have been delivered to various schools in the province, with 300 rehabilitated and 50,012 newly made.

The health sector in Luapula Province has also seen significant improvements 22 health posts have been constructed since 2022, with 11 having been rehabilitated and 11 newly built.

Furthermore, 23 maternity annexes have been constructed, consisting of 12 rehabilitated and 11 new units. Seven staff houses have also been built in the health sector, with 4 rehabilitated and 3 newly constructed.

Lastly, a total of 46 ablution blocks have been constructed, with 23 rehabilitated and 23 newly built while, 118 boreholes and water schemes were constructed in various communities in the province.

These developments demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving the lives of Luapula Province residents, particularly in the areas of education and health.
