Friday, May 23rd, 2025-Mansa Municipal Council has disbursed Four Million, Nine Hundred and Eighty-One Thousand, Two Hundred and Ninety Kwacha ( K 4,981,290.00) in grants to 263 beneficiaries under the Empowerment Grant Component of 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF). The funds were awarded to successful applicants from Bahati and Mansa Central Constituencies.
In her opening remarks during the handover ceremony,Mansa Municipal Council Town Clerk, Dr. Josephine Mwanza, disclosed that the Local Authority received 304 applications from Bahati Constituency and 347 applications from Mansa Central Constituency. Dr. Mwanza said a total of 123 applicants from Bahati received K2,491,290.00 in total while 140 successful applicants from Mansa Central Constituency received K2,491,290.00 in total.
Luapula Province Permanent Secretary, Prudence Chinama, who represented Provincial Minister Nason Musonda, emphasised that the CDF grant is a vital component of the government’s commitment to empowering local communities and fostering development. Ms Chinama urged beneficiaries to utilise the grant wisely, invest in their businesses and create opportunities for others, stressing that the grant is an investment in their future and the province’s future.
Mansa Deputy Mayor, Besa Kalumba and Mansa District Commissioner, Ireen Chivweta cautioned beneficiaries against misusing the funds warning that mismanagement would discourage the government and potentially lead to discontinuation of the program.
In a vote of thanks, Juliet Kabwe expressed gratitude to the government and pledged the beneficiaries’ commitment to proper utilisation of the grants.
The handover ceremony, held at the Council Rest House, was attended by Councillors from both constituencies, CDF committee members and members of Ward Development Committees(WDCs).
