4th October,2025-The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has commenced a five-day training for Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs), District Voter Education Committee (DVEC) members and Patrons and Matrons of Voter Education School Clubs in Mansa district.
The training, being held at Teja Executive Lodge, aims to equip participants with the skills and tools to engage various groups including first-time voters, women, youth, Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and rural communities during the upcoming Voter Registration exercise scheduled for 13 October, 2025 to November 11, 2025.
In her opening remarks, Mansa District Registration Officer(DRO), Dr. Josephine Mwanza, emphasized that the success of the exercise depends on how well the public is informed. She highlighted the vital role that VEFs play in ensuring that eligible citizens understand their rights and responsibilities and are motivated to participate in the exercise.
Dr. Mwanza further noted that VEFs are not just educators, but also ambassadors of the Commission’s core values of impartiality, transparency and objectivity which must guide all their engagements with the public.
She also outlined additional services that ECZ will provide during the registration exercise including,transfers of voters from one polling station to another; replacement of defaced, destroyed and damaged voter’s cards; claims for inclusion, and removal of deceased voters.
Dr. Mwanza clarified that Zambian citizens aged 18 and above and in possession of a Green National Registration Card, will be required to register but that all those who registered in 2020 or during the Continuous Registration of Voters (CRV) exercise will not be required to register again.
The training is part of a nationwide exercise led by District Voter Education Trainers (DVETs) and District Voter Education and Publicity Coordinators (DVEPC). The Mansa training is being facilitated by DVETs Alan Mwewa and Simon Mwape alongside DVEP Coordinator Ms. Dorothy Ng’ambi and District Electoral Officer (DVEO) Elis Ng’andwe.
