October,27,2025-Mansa Municipal Council Town Clerk, Dr. Josephine Mwanza, has appealed to councillors serving on the Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) not to reject submissions and project components presented by technocrats.
‎‎Dr. Mwanza made the appeal today during the first Ordinary Council Meeting held at the Council Rest House, following concerns raised by Katangashi Ward Councillor, Charles Musonda, regarding the completed Musaila Market, which lacks an ablution block and a water reticulation system.
‎“My appeal to councillors sitting on the CDFC is that when engineers present Bills of Quantities and other project components, let us not shoot them down. Often, challenges arise later from issues that were initially presented but rejected by the committee,” Dr. Mwanza said.
‎‎She also assured the Council that road works would continue despite equipment limitations and other unforeseen challenges.
‎‎“The road equipment available in each constituency is not a full set, so we have to combine equipment from both constituencies to work on specific roads. As we head towards 2026, we must remain mindful of these limitations. Other unforseen circumstances have also affected road works progress, but I assure you that the roads will be worked on,” she added.
‎‎Speaking during the same meeting, Mansa Mayor, His Worship Njikho Musuku, urged members to ensure the timely completion of projects. He also encouraged councillors to actively participate in the ongoing Mass Voter Registration exercise to help ensure that all eligible citizens have their voices heard in next year’s elections.‎
‎In closing, the Mayor urged members of the House to sensitize community members about habits that contribute to climate change and to emphasize the importance of safeguarding water bodies.
