MAYOR NJIKHO MUSUKU USHERS IN THE NEW YEAR WITH COMPASSION ACROSS MANSA

January 1st 2026-Mansa Mayor, His Worship Njikho Musuku, began the New Year on the ground with the people, extending goodwill and practical support to vulnerable families in various parts of Mansa as a gesture of solidarity, compassion and inclusive leadership.

The Mayor donated assorted items to families in Maiteneke, Sumbu Village, selected suburbs, Chitamba, Kapanda, Kampalala and the Prisons area, where he also visited the area Counsellor. In total, ten families spent their New Year with the Mayor, many of them less privileged or battling illness.

Rather than celebrating privately, the Mayor chose to dedicate the first day of the year to uplifting households facing hardship, reinforcing the message that leadership must be felt at community level and was accompanied by Chilyapa Ward Councillor Mr. Samuel Mwansa.

The visits brought comfort, encouragement and a sense of belonging to families who might otherwise have marked the New Year in difficulty.

During the outreach, the Mayor encouraged families to continue showing love, unity and care for one another, noting that strong family bonds remain the foundation of resilient communities.

The gesture was also aimed at restoring hope and reminding residents that no one should be left behind as Mansa moves into a new year.

The New Year outreach has been widely viewed as a reflection of Mayor Musuku’s people-first approach to governance, one that places empathy, service and community well-being at the centre of local leadership. ‎
