June 24th 2026-Mansa Municipal Council is pleased to announce the commencement of township road improvement works covering a total of 30 kilometers across the district, under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) infrastructure development programme.
The scope of works includes road corridor clearing, grading, shaping, and full gravelling of selected township roads aimed at improving accessibility, mobility, and the overall road network within residential and business areas.
In addition, the Local Authority has commenced the identification of critical points requiring the installation of culverts to ensure effective drainage and enhance the durability of the roads.
This intervention underscores Government’s commitment to improving local infrastructure and enhancing service delivery through the Constituency Development Fund.
Improved township roads are essential for socio-economic development as they facilitate the smooth movement of people, goods and services, improve access to schools, health facilities and markets, and contribute to increased economic activity within communities.
The upgrading of these roads will also reduce transportation challenges faced by residents, particularly during the rainy season when many township roads become impassable. The works are expected to enhance safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians while improving the general appearance and functionality of urban settlements.
The identification and subsequent installation of culverts forms a critical component of the project. Proper drainage infrastructure helps channel storm water away from road surfaces, thereby preventing flooding, erosion, wash-aways and premature road deterioration. Culverts will significantly extend the lifespan of the roads by protecting the road structure from water damage while ensuring uninterrupted access during periods of heavy rainfall.

Members of the public residing in areas where the works are being undertaken are advised that temporary inconveniences may be experienced during the construction period.
