July 16,2026-Mansa District Commissioner Mrs. Ireen Chivweta has emphasized that the Government’s Revised Cash for Work (CFW) Programme is intended to benefit vulnerable residents across the district without leaving anyone behind.
Speaking during the official opening of the orientation workshop for Community Welfare Assistance Committees (CWACs), Ward Development Committees (WDCs), and DMMU Satellite Committee members at Central Inn Guest House in Mansa, Mrs. Chivweta said Government has released funding for the July 2026 cycle of the programme, which is expected to benefit more than 3,000 residents in Mansa District.
She said the programme demonstrates the Government’s unwavering commitment to improving livelihoods, providing temporary income support to vulnerable households, and strengthening community resilience through labour-intensive public works.
Mrs. Chivweta urged all committee members entrusted with the identification and verification of beneficiaries to execute their responsibilities with the highest levels of honesty, transparency, accountability, and integrity.
She stressed that the credibility and success of the programme depend on a fair and inclusive beneficiary selection process that prioritizes deserving households in every ward.
“The Revised Cash for Work Programme belongs to the people of Mansa and there is a need to ensure that every deserving beneficiary is given an equal opportunity to participate. There should be no favouritism, discrimination or manipulation during the selection process, the District Commissioner stated.”
The District Commissioner further noted that the orientation workshop has brought together representatives from all wards in Mansa District to equip them with the knowledge and guidelines required for the effective implementation of the programme.
She said the training is crucial in ensuring that all stakeholders have a common understanding of the programme’s objectives, beneficiary selection criteria, reporting procedures, and implementation standards.
The Revised Cash for Work Programme is one of Government’s flagship social protection interventions designed to provide temporary employment while improving public infrastructure and community assets. Under the programme, beneficiaries earn income by undertaking approved community works such as cleaning drainage systems, maintaining feeder roads, clearing public spaces, rehabilitating community facilities, and carrying out environmental conservation activities.
The government remains committed to ensuring that the programme is implemented transparently, efficiently and equitably so that it reaches the intended beneficiaries while promoting community participation and local development.
Residents have also been encouraged to actively participate in the programme whenever selected by contributing their labour diligently and responsibly.
Beyond providing immediate financial relief, the programme empowers communities to improve their surroundings, protect public infrastructure, promote environmental cleanliness, and foster a collective sense of ownership over community development initiatives.
Members of the public are further reminded that participation in the Revised Cash for Work Programme is completely free of charge. No individual should pay money or any form of inducement to be considered for the programme. Residents are advised to report any suspected cases of fraud or corruption to the relevant authorities.
The Mansa District Administration and Mansa Municipal Council remains confident that, through collaboration with local structures and active community participation, the Revised Cash for Work Programme will continue to improve livelihoods, stimulate local economic activity, and contribute meaningfully to sustainable community development.
