August 9th 2026-Mansa District Electoral Officer, Dr. Josephine Mwanza, has officially opened a two-day Provincial Election Support Centre (PESC) training workshop for the last cohort of PESC officers in Luapula Province.
Dr. Mwanza said the training was timely as the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) intensifies preparations for the 2026 General Election.
She said the PESC will serve as a nerve centre for coordinating electoral operations in the province through monitoring election activities, facilitating communication, addressing operational challenges and providing timely logistical support to field officers.
Dr. Mwanza urged participants to actively engage in the training and uphold the Commission’s values of professionalism, integrity, impartiality, accountability, teamwork and excellence.
She further emphasized that effective support systems behind the scenes are critical to ensuring the smooth conduct of elections and called on officers to remain committed to delivering a credible, transparent, peaceful and well-managed election.
The last cohort comprised Communication Officers and Field Correspondents from Mwense and Samfya, while the first cohort, which was trained from 6th to 7th August 2026, comprised Chief Correspondents, Coordinators, Data Managers, Communication Officers and Field Correspondents from Mansa, Mwansabombwe and Chifunabuli, among other districts in Luapula Province.
