August 21st ,2026-Mansa Municipal Council, through the Department of Health Services and UTH-HAP, has taken HIV prevention and demand creation sensitisation to Mabumba and Musaila, in an effort to ensure that communities have access to accurate health information and essential prevention services.

The outreach was also supported by the Luapula Provincial AIDS Coordinating Advisor, demonstrating the importance of coordinated efforts at provincial, district and local levels in strengthening the HIV response.

During the engagement, community members were sensitized on HIV prevention and demand creation, condom programming, Hepatitis B and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The team provided an opportunity for community members to ask questions, clarify misconceptions and learn about available health services.

As part of the condom programming component, the outreach team also distributed condoms to community members in Mabumba and Musaila, while providing guidance on their correct and consistent use as an important measure for preventing HIV and other STIs.

Taking these services and messages directly into communities is critical in creating demand for HIV prevention services and ensuring that people are not left behind because of distance, limited information or other barriers to accessing services.

The collaboration between Mansa Municipal Council, Mansa District Health Office and UTH-HAP continues to demonstrate the power of partnerships in bringing health information and prevention interventions closer to the people.

From Mabumba to Musaila, the message is clear: prevention starts with knowledge, informed choices and access to the right services.
